Vinyl Planking Floors

Here’s Why I Adore My Vinyl Planking Floor

If you are in the market for a new flooring, you’ll soon discover (if you haven’t already) that choosing one is not that easy since the choices are many. In our search for new flooring, my husband and I excluded hardwood from the list due to its high price. This move left us with the different types of laminate, tiles and vinyl planking floors. After a lot of research and seeking solid advice, we finally decided to go with vinyl planking floors and here’s why.

  • It Is Waterproof

Unlike laminate, vinyl planking floors are completely waterproof. So I don’t have to worry about kids spilling, dishwasher leaking, or pet accidents anymore. As a mom of two young children, having a waterproof floor in the kitchen is very important to me – my kids are constantly spilling water and now I don’t have to worry about the floor all the time.

  • It is Soft Underfoot

We used to have tiles in the kitchen and standing and walking on such flooring was really taking its toll on my feet and joints. I know it may sound as an exaggeration, but it is true. I’m so glad we installed our new floor with a nice, cushy underlayment. In addition to making the floor soft to walk on, the underlayment also makes for it being a lot warmer.

  • It Doesn’t Scratch Easy

Before we had our floor installed, I bought a few different flooring samples (laminate and vinyl planking samples) to find out which one was the best. So I took a key and tried to scratch their surface. The laminate flooring samples that I tested, although they were of good quality, scratched a lot easier than the vinyl. We do have some scratches on our vinyl floor from the kid’s ride-on car but I believe we’ll have much more if we had chosen laminate.

  • It is Easy to Install

Vinyl planking floors click together just like laminate, meaning the installation process is pretty simple. If you are a DIYer, installing your floor might be something that you can do yourself. We opted to have pros deal with this one for us.

  • It is Easy to Replace

Although this is probably something we won’t be doing in near future, someday we may decide to update the look of our house, and this feature will surely come in handy.

Our vinyl planking floor delivered everything we expected it to, including easy maintenance and durability. If you are remodeling your home, it may be an option for you to consider. Just don’t forget to do your own research and come to your own conclusions according to your budget and preferences.
